Waterways Museum trip
On Friday 21st July, Hazel class visited Gloucester Waterways Museum, to consolidate our knowledge of rivers from this term's topic and to understand more about the history of our local canal.
We had a great time making our own landscapes that included some of the key features of a river - we managed to include the source, sea, meander, tributary and even oxbow lakes!
We also learnt lots about how Gloucester and Sharpness canal would have looked in the 1800s. On our guided tour of the museum, we learnt how canals would have been built and the different mechanisms used to power boats and machinery.
We loved going on a boat ride down the canal during our lunch break, and even managed to sing a few songs from Treasure Island to the public along our route! It was a wonderful way to finish off the end of our summer term.
